Romanesco
Romanesco Broccoli is a member of the Brassica Family (Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts). It has slightly waxy large grey green leaves similar in appearance to Cauliflower leaves. When the plant is approaching maturity it forms a single head about twenty to thirty centimetres across that has a slightly green hue and a wonderful mosaic pattern.
When the central head is cut smaller heads will form on the side, but these small heads are not as nearly as prolific as standard broccoli varieties such as Sprouting Calabrese.
